One of the masterpieces of British cinema from the 1940s, it deals with the relationship between life and art. Guided by an entrepreneur visibly inspired by the figure of Diaghilev, a young ballerina becomes a star, but has to face the dilemma between giving herself entirely to her career or sacrificing love. Jack Cardiff's Technicolour photography, Hein Heckroth's fabulous artistic direction, and Brian Easdale's music have created one of the most beautiful musicals ever. Léonide Massine, who between 1915 and 1921 was the main choreographer for Diaghilev's Ballets Russes, has one of his most important film roles here, choreographing and dancing an important sequence in the film. To be shown in digital format.
