with Lena Horne, Bill Robinson, Fats Waller
United States, 1943 - 78 min
subtitled electronically in Portuguese | M/12
Along with Vincente Minnelli's CABIN IN THE SKY, STORMY WEATHER was the only musical released that year, 1943, with an almost exclusively African-American cast, in a context in which black actors were mostly excluded from major Hollywood productions. The intrigue of the film unfolds around the passion between a dancer struggling to make it in his career (Bill Robinson) and a popular singer (Lena Horne), in what had been one of Fred Astaire's favourite musicals. First showing at the Cinemateca. To be shown in digital format.
Venue:
Cinemateca Portuguesa - R. Barata Salgueiro 39, 1269-059 Lisboa
