In this masterclass, Kati Kallio explores her artistic processes and creative choices through examples from her work. She focuses on the role of sound and space in dance film, and how these elements shape rhythm, movement, and cinematic storytelling. The session also highlights her participatory practice with older adults, amateur dancers and diverse communities, where filmmaking becomes a process of dialogue and shared experience.

Kati Kallio is an award-winning dance filmmaker from Finland. Based in Helsinki, she works internationally as an artist, curator, and educator specializing in dance film. Her works have been screened at film, dance, and dance film festivals around the world, and broadcast on television. In 2024, she received the Tanssin maineteko award from the Circus and Dance Union Finland for her significant contribution to the field of dance film.
