VESTÍGIO questions the value of the image as a representation of identity. A self-portrait is taken outdoors and burned. The act of destruction becomes a moment of reflection: who are we without our image? What remains when we stop seeing ourselves? This project explores the ephemerality of identity and the fragility of the portrait as an attempt to fix the self. Through combustion, the portrait becomes a process. The ashes rest on a mirror, revealing a new reflection — fragmented, unstable, yet still present.

Catarina Carreira is a Portuguese photographer whose work explores the relationship between identity, emotion, and aesthetics. Graduated from Instituto Politécnico de Tomar and ETIC, she is currently interning at What About Agency. Through fashion and portraiture, she creates authentic, sensitive, and visually striking images that merge technique and personal expression.
