This work stems from an inner conflict and explores the author’s relationship with both sexes, not in an identity sense but as an emotional and performative experience. The constant presence of the masculine and the distance from the feminine create a tension between belonging and rejection. The images avoid direct self-representation, using visual metaphors of absence, confrontation, and desire, refl ecting on how the experience of the feminine is shaped by the implicit presence of the masculine.

Mel Fox (Amadora, 2002) is a visual artist whose practice focuses on photography, while also exploring other artistic territories. She works with multiple alter egos and explores themes of introspection, identity, and transformation. Her work investigates how images can refl ect inner states and moments of transition between the visible and the emotional.
