Fronteiras 6'

This Video Dance was developed as an experimental and hybrid project, as its creation was no longer based on the script, but was recreated on the editing table.

The narrative stems from a nightmare of a dancer Elisa, pursued by a Don Quixote and his horses of iron, with the ineffectual help of Sancho Panza. At the railway station Dulcinea/Elisa tries to escape from the elegant lunatic Don Quixote, who is chasing her. Quixote who is running after her, bumping into the stopped trains at the station where the doors don't open, Elisa is on the edge when she discovers Don Quixote's false moustache. As if in a nightmare, she runs away again and again and almost gets caught, getting lost in the streets of Porto. In her room, a recording takes place in which she takes part.

This narrative is built on images from significant films in the history of cinema, such as Akira Kurosawa's Run, Victor Flaming's The Wizard of OZ and Michael Powel's Red Shoes, as well as interspersed shots from ‘Video Signal’.

Primórdios 6’

This project is the result of a workshop held at the Acarte Encounters, dedicated to Video Dance, with guidance from Diedrid Towers and Jasson Kliot. The idea behind the project was to use a performer/camera duo to develop a work of spontaneous creation based on improvisation and establishing a relationship between the camera and the body, the director and the performer.
The venue for the projects would be the Gulbenkian space where the workshop would take place, with the resources provided by Acarte.
Note: The editing was carried out by the director, and the video was made without an editing table, using only the ‘scrolling shutter speed’ VHS video command.
