Shadow in Motion: PROYECTOR
InShadow returns to the PROYECTOR Festival on the 18th of September in Madrid, Spain, and is one of four festivals selected for the International Festival Screening.
We will be presenting a collection of four award-winning video dance works from the latest edition of InShadow, in a session that brings together different ways of exploring the body, movement and the image:
Hammer, by Zacharie Ellia (FR) 3’
A 16mm self-produced music video at the crossroads of punk and contemporary dance. Directed by Zacharie Ellia and choreographed by Keren Lurie Pardes (Sharon Eyal Dance), it features outstanding performers from the Paris Opera Ballet and beyond. The camera turns away from the stage to make the pit the heart of the spectacle
Spoken Movement Family Honour, by Daniel Gurton (UK) 1’
In a British-Ghanaian household bound by tradition and religion, a young girl lives under the oppressive control of her abusive father. At the family dinner table, heated arguments reveal the deep rift between them as they confront the scars of their shared history.
Ode to Age, by Kati Kallio (FI) 8’
The film portrays how wild, free and beautiful the aging body is, how pointless the fear of wrinkles and skin folds is. A dance film about elderly women who have had enough of the colorlessness of life. Together, they take off their everyday clothes and by joyful and undisciplined throw themselves into the Finnish summer.
Dances in the City - Fractal, by Márcio Simões (PT) 5’
A series of short dance works for television, paying tribute to Lisbon’s iconic 1990s contemporary dance festival choreographers André Cabral, Clara Andermatt, Vasco Wellenkamp and Margarida Belo Costa reimagine their work within Lisbon’s architectural landmarks. Episode 4, Fractal, by Margarida Belo Costa, unfolds at Carpintarias de São Lázaro with dancers from the Portuguese Contemporary Ballet Company
