LIGHTS, CAMERA, DANCE!

One light, one festival, one single shadow.
Dance and cinema merge into a movement of diverse shadows.
The InShadow Festival reinvents its own shadow and transcends the boundaries of cinema and dance, intersecting with other arts.
Each edition aims to clarify the programming lines we wish to pursue, connecting artists, places and cultures. We present world and national premieres and welcome two new strategic partners: the IMZ International Music + Media Centre, which has enabled us to expand our awards and integrate international juries, as well as to feature the films on new platforms; and RTP, which will host the audience-awarded film, presented on International Dance Day.
InShadow Festival envisions a more innovative future, where artistic practice is inseparable from thought. Between elements that intertwine bodies and shadows, with social dynamics and themes such as nature, migration, ritual, listening and the gesture of looking, emerges a constellation of works that speak their own language. A light-shadow relationship where artists are a collective force in which the audience prolongs the shadow in a luminous presence.
"When the body moves, the figures it draws define a space" says Paula Massano.
We bring days filled with creativity and emerging talent, with workshops, talks and encounters in a shared language of cinema and dance in dual translation.
This edition is a wake-up call about the state of the world, between resistance and poetry. We celebrate the imagination and ingenuity that allow us to hear the gesture of sound and image.
