An exploration of the relationship between the moving body, light, and darkness within the submerged space of a cenote.

Rather than presenting dance as a sequence of finished poses, the photographic series captures moments of transition in which the dancer moves through a space shaped by a vertical beam of natural light. The cenote becomes an unconventional stage where depth replaces the familiar horizontal plane of theatrical performance, and the relationship between the body and its surroundings continually shifts.

Across the images, the dancer remains a visible presence, yet her relationship with the space changes. Within the darkness, against the illuminated beam, or at the point where light and shadow intersect, the body acquires different visual weight and spatial meaning. Light becomes more than a means of illumination: it shapes how movement, scale, and presence are perceived.

Through these suspended moments, Threshold of Shadow explores the tension between visibility and obscurity, control and uncertainty, and the body as a moving presence within a space that resists conventional orientation.
